These thoughts beget thoughts,
Sunlight gives way to moonlight,
Dung beetle locked in motion.

  1. When i read haikus, i see beauty--- they have this way of communicating to the mind easily without hitting it too hard-still, they incite thought into action-- i am not a goo one in interpreting haikus-but i like what they make me feel--

wanjeri and wanjiku, i need to learn the art of haikus- i have been reading them from your blogs- teaching self from your pieces-

  2. I too LOVE haikus, too bad i never seem to be able to write them :(

I love the idea of constant motion. Thoughts that give birth to other thoughts, which give birth to other thought... sunlight giving way to moonlight...representing time. Day in day out... The dung beetle which rolls this huge ball of dung endlessly representing the struggles of being alive and their never ending character...

I hope my interpretation is close to what wanjeri intended.

Ps. am noting the poems are getting shorter and shorter...brevity is the new fad

  4. I read... I read thrice more... Read through the comments and then googled Haiku. I've come back to read the piece, having learnt a few things about Haiku.
I like that I learn. I live and I learn. I read and I learn. Everyday.
And with work like this, you write and you teach. Keep it up. And don't charge school fees.

  5. Thank you Jacque would you believe that this is my first haiku? But I'm glad y'all like it. I'm afraid brevity is not the new fad Baru, huu ni ukaukaji wa mameno mengine ya kuongeza :P though arent haiku's something amazing? They really force you to sift through your idea and find the simple words to express your 'universe' of thoughts.

Nhu thanks again and yes Claudette we live and we learn, we read and we learn!!!

  6. Hii hauki haiko.... just felt like saying that.... Seriously though... I like the simplicity but clear beauty of this one.

Dung beetle locked in motion. To say anything else would be to remove from the beauty in this piece.

    Kudos mawazo mengi...
